Situated on the canals in Exmouth, a transportable building was the economic answer to constructing a holiday home for high season letting with occasional owner occupation so far from competitive construction centres.
Set up for high occupancy capacity to maximise letting potential and affording space for visitors boat storage and wash-down space as well as off street parking, the main brief requirement was to avoid the look of a traditional transportable and create a resort atmosphere to encourage group bookings and multi-family use.
Sliding the units longitudinally and extending the multi gabled roof elements beyond the end unit of the three standard floor pans created sheltered outdoor entertainment areas at both ends of the building to enable optional use to suit the daily change in climatic conditions. The two main areas enable groups to separate – to suit alternative age-group activities whilst still maintaining supervision of children’s activities and maintaining the family holiday environment.
